Marlies Schoenmakers

Marlies studied at a number of institutes, including the Platform for Contemporary Art in Tilburg. The island’s nature with the surrounding sea in particular are a source of inspiration for her. The flowing lines, rhythm of it’s waves, shapes of it’s shells and the pulsing movements of jellyfish are all found in her abstract ceramic work. The organic forms and natural colors of her artworks are testament to the artist’s ability to capture the elusiveness of nature. Marlies ceramics can be seen at several public spaces in Curaçao such as the Renaissance hotel and the Sculpture Garden in Blue Bay.
