Rien te Hennepe

Rien (Marinus Gerrit) te Hennepe born in the Netherlands, 1950. Since his early childhood he was very fascinated by the nature. The interest in art arrived later in life. After his retirement, 2002, Rien and his wife decided to move permanently to Curaçao.

A decision Rien doesn’t regret. Specially the Tafelberg (Table Mountain) in Curaçao made a huge impression on him, with its marble and beautiful crystals. After making a number of sculptures from stones from Table Mountain together with clients from Fundashon Pro Bista (Curaçao's Institute for the Blind) in 2006, he continued sculpting and in the years that followed this resulted in many creative expressions.

He also discovered during the processing that some stones produced a sound. That he calls "sound images”. Rien lets the stone lead; the shape, the colors and the drawing of the stone are very important for him. His work is self-taught and broadly figurative and can be seen on several place on the island including the Sculpture Garden at Blue Bay resort.
